Developing expertise in the teaching of phonics, a series of sessions for ECT's

Location: Online

Times: 3.45-4.30pm

Programme Aims:

• To support early careers teachers in their understanding of the importance of phonics in developing children's early reading skills.
• To support early careers teachers in the delivery of phonics in their classrooms.

Session 1 - Tuesday 23rd September - Exploring the fundamentals of phonics and the importance of phonics in the teaching of reading.

Session 2 - Tuesday 18th November - Exploring the elements that ensure a strong delivery of phonics.

Session 3 - Tuesday 20th January - The use of assessment to support the slowest progress children in your classroom.

Session 4 - Tuesday 3rd March - Planning ahead for success in the phonics screening check.

Session 5 - Tuesday 30th June - Exploring how to maximise progress to ensure a strong finish to the year.
