Last year we started our journey with the English Hub. In a short space of time we are already beginning to see impact from our collaboration with the hub. The English Lead in school has regular contact with the hub to support us with the planning and delivery of our English curriculum throughout school. As a result of becoming a partner school we are now engaged in high quality CPD for all staff ensuring that there is a systematic approach to teaching reading and phonics. This has given staff the confidence to deliver the programme effectively and the leader the skills to monitor and support staff. The English Hub have provided us with a network of contacts for support. Their assistance during lockdown in the spring and summer term ensured that we were able to think creatively about how to engage children in remote learning. The financial support we are receiving allows the training and resources to be of high quality. Reading and phonics have been a school development focus for over a year now and I can see our commitment to improving in this area will take time. It is reassuring to know that we have the support of the English Hub to guide us on our journey, especially during such uncertain times in education.
